Sacraments
Sacramentalia
"Love ...bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things" 1 Corinthians 13:7
The Last Rites (previously known as Extreme Unction) of the Catholic Church do not usually include the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, but instead receive Communion for the Dying. The Sacrament of Anointing is usually administered to a person who is not in imminent danger of death.
Communion for the Dying (Viaticum or Food for the Journey) is the Sacrament offered to the dying person, if they are able to receive it. At this time, family and friends of the dying person surround the deathbed with prayers of Commendation.
Quietly and gently the dying person is given over to God's loving care.
The Sacraments cannot be administered to someone who has already died.
