St. Flannan's Catholic Parish
Collectors
The Collectors taking up of the Parish collections at each Mass on Sunday.
This is done by passing the collection basket along the pews for which they are responsible.
There are normally two collections during weekend Masses. Usually, 4 to 8 Collectors are needed for each Mass.
Traditionally one collection is for the expenses of the parish, and the other for the needs of the clergy. In the Archdiocese of Brisbane the proceeds from both collections are combined and a percentage of the total is forwarded to the Archdiocese to meet its needs.
The Collectors place their collections into a single basket which is then taken up to the Altar at the Offertory.
On the third Sunday of each month there is a Leaving Collection. The proceeds of this collection go towards the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society Conference in our Parish.
If you are interested in becoming a Collector, please see the priest or a Sacristan before Mass.
